He came from somewhere back in her long ago
Sentimental fool don't see
Tryin hard to recreate
What was yet to be created

Well, I am among friends and family.

Nestled in the womb, or so it would feel.

Surrounded by people who care.

And everywhere I go, I see someone whose face breaks into a smile

And insists on giving me a hug.

It's good to be back in the Dam.

I feel like Michael Corleone, coming back from Sicily.

Anyway, Jimmy D, Sherry, TLN, Meg, B Squared, Curt, Birdy, Vaughn, Alison and T-Rex...

I love you guys.

Mom and Dad.

It feels good to be back.

Every time I feel like I am walking a tightrope;

Every time that I feel like there is no net;

Every time I wonder what the fuck I am doing;

And, more importantly,

Every time I wonder why...

I come back here, and I am reminded of where I came from.

I drive past my grade school.

I drive past my high school.

I see the places I used to play when I was a kid.

Better yet, I come here and see the people I used to play with when I was a kid.

I hung out tonight with my friend, my brother, T-Rex.

We have been friends since we were twelve years old.

When I lived here again, as an adult, I lived right around the corner from him.

I used to walk my dogs over ther four or five times a week.

I am pretty sure we solved the world's problems four or five times over.

But most ot the time, even now, we just sit around and talk, totally comfortable in our own skin.

It's nice when just being yourself is all you have to do.

It's good to be home.

I never had any friends later on like the ones I had when I was twelve.

Jesus, does anyone?

Those are the best kind of friends. The kind you can go six months without a word and one phone call later it's like no time has passed at all.

The sentiment in this post is lovely, however I have been humming Michael McDonald all morning now, and guess what...I loathe him...
