Climbing the topsails...
I LOST MY LEG!!!
I watched a slew of movies this weekend.
It is freaking 63 freaking degrees, and it is freaking ten freaking thirty at night, in Bozeman, Freaking Montana. Last year, the southern side of the Bridgers had more snow in June than thid year, in March.
The Rocky Mountains are going to burn this summer.
Notwithstanding, I had a supermellow weekend. Cooked the hell out of a couple ribeyes- preheat the oven to 500, rub the ribeyes with cracked pepper and sea salt, get one of those grill-pans, with the ribs (for her pleasure), and pour some high-temp oil in the pan, and get it as hot as you possibly can.
Using a tongs, because that oil is going to sizzle and pop like a mutha, drop the ribeye onto the grill pan.
Let it cook for 2 minutes in the oil.
Then, take the pan at exactly two minutes and put it in the oven for 4-5 minutes, depending on thickness of the steak, and which side of medium you prefer. Me? I'm on the rare side of medium.
You don't flip it, and just let it cook. Remember, though, that you have to plate it immediately, because it will be cooking in its own juices. When you plate it, flip it, so the charred side is up.
If you do exactly as I have written, you will not be disappointed.

We watched some really good movies this weekend.
The Prestige was really, really, really good. Christian Bale and Hugh Jackman are rival magicians in London, circa 1900... which, I know sounds like cheddar, but the plot, the story, the writing, and the acting are all fantastic. The director is the guy who did Memento, Insomnia and the latest Batman, also with Christian Bale.
Crikey, dude. It's a good flick.
We also watched Babel, which was pretty heavy-duty. It tears a hole in your heart. The story revolves around a rifle, which completely upends the lives of four families who come into contact with it. The four plotlines take place in Japan, Morocco, Mexico and California.
The communication breakdown between cultures, countries and people lies at the center of the film. The story of the deaf-mute Lolita in Japan was striking and really well-shot... and I can't stop thinking about it.

I also made a hell of a lot of noise with Bells on Saturday afternoon. He and I turned it to eleven.
I laid down some funk on the drum kit. We were fully plugged-in, miked and electric.
There was an extensive ukelele solo.

Try not to let Monday suck the ass right out of your week. Cling to the shreds of a good weekend; help is on the way.
Three days til Thursday.
And on Thursday, we will turn around and flip the bird at Daylight Savings.
