Oye como va
Mi ritmo
Bueno pa gosar
Mulata

Well, on Saturday, our flight left Puerto Vallarta, landed in Denver and continued to Bozeman, landing at 10:30 p.m.

I assume it was a nice flight.

I wouldn't know because I wasn't on it.

Sometime on Friday, our passports got stolen from our little cabana. We didn't discover this until we were getting ready to get on the water taxi from Yelapa to Puerto Vallarta.

We went to the airport, knowing they wouldn't let us back into the US without our passaportes. The only flight they could get us on is next Saturday.

I'm terribly disappointed.

Today was the only headache day, as we spent about three hours at the Consulate getting the necessary paperwork to leave the country on Saturday. We also greased some palms to get our customs paperwork, which was also inexplicably stolen.

So, now we sit and fret in an ocean view room, trying to enjoy the enforced extra week of vacation. (drip, drip, sarcasm)

I am writing this from an internet cafe in Puerto Vallarta, after a week with no television, no radio, no phone, no inernet, no roads, and no cars. Only waves, sunshine, amigos, and apparently, a thriving black market for US Passports.

Yelapa was awesome, but if you like an activity-filled vacation, it is not the spot for you. I went from bungalow, to breakfast, to a hammock on the beach. Occasionally, I had to get up to get a new book. I am on my fifth book.

We also played guitar and sang.

We met this really cool couple, Mindy and Aaron, from Seattle on the second or third night. We had a bunch of drinks & played music. She also sang, and get this, Aaron is a rock star. He is the bass player in a band called Harvey Danger.

They had a hit in the late 90's called Flagpole Sitta.

It was good. They were fun.

Other noteworthy events included seeing dolphins... and, oh, on Thursday, I got stung by a scorpion.

Twice.

I grabbed a t-shirt out of my bag on the floor and put it on.

I felt this incredibly painful piercing sensation on my side, just above my hip.

Then I felt something skittering up my side, and another, even more painful sting just below my armpit.

Think the worst wasp sting you have ever had, and multiply it by ten. Throw in some burning, 3 or 4 days of aching, and there you have it.

I ripped off my shirt in a panic and threw it.

I should mention at this point that I have been terrified of scorpions for years. A near-phobia. They freak me out. I would rather get bitten by a shark or get chased by a grizzly. So, I had that going for me... which was nice.

Anyway, we're in a hoppin' part of Puerto Vallarta, and I am sitting at a computer. There is something wrong with this picture.

I'm out.

Maybe I will check in later this week.

Adios, amigos.

Me thinks you live a charmed life, Joe. If I were to get my passport stolen and had to spend an extra week somewhere, it would probably be Siberia or the North Pole.

I believe I have a copy of that tune on my PC at home. Though I haven't a clue what it sounds like right now. Maybe it will come to me later.
Kudos on the extra week. !!!

I got to extend my vacation due to a mishap by a week once too. It was in Regina, Saskatechewan. Try not to be jealous.

Just think if you would have gotten stung on the nuts or something!

Scorpions are creepy little things just even to look at.

Hey have you ever thought of getting a Flickr account and posting the photos of your adventures? It would be nice to be able to browse through thumbnails, and you have about a million pictures.
