I'm highly suspicious of you

I backed out of the Friday gig. My friend Blain was in town, and I wasn't feeling the mojo. I just wasn't feeling it. I promised we'd be back for the Christmas stroll.

The party was fun, but we didn't want to stay very long.

I actually got my sketchbook back from Stacie. Oh My. It is really, really, really, really cool. I am sorry it didn't work out with K-Top, but... holy mackerel, Stacie brought the ferreal art. It is cool enough to put on a coffee table.

I couldn't be prouder.

(For those who are new, this is an art project wherein one gets a sketchbook and uses any medium- draw, paint, multi-media, writing- and sends it to a partner, who then works on it. There are no rules, and any piece may be altered, painted over, drawn on, added to, or enhanced.)

It turned out really great.

Anyone want to do it?

^^My Morning Jacket, "Highly Suspicious." Check it.

The Mitten did, however, bring some serious thunder on Saturday. We played as a three piece, Bells, Dr. Matt & I. We probably ran through 50 songs. We played for about 5 hours. There is some promise there, but this was only my second time playing with Dr. Matt. It was Bells' first time.

We played it like a round robin. Dr. Matt played bass and guitar, while Bells & I played drums, guitar and bass.

Very fun. It was a "hey, do you know this one?" situation. We played Beatles, Stones, Pearl Jam, Stone Temple Pilots, REM, Zeppelin, Nirvana, Cake, Neil Young, Metallica, the Faces, the Clash, AC/DC, U2, Johnny Cash, Uncle Tupelo, Bruce Springsteen, White Stripes, the Who & Jack Johnson... we even rocked some Bon Jovi and George Michael "Faith," mostly to try and crack each other up. There was more, but I can't remember. Seriously, I think we played about 50 songs.

We agreed to play some more and polish up maybe 6 songs to play out on the town.

Fun!

That was especially nice, because I have had a string of some spectacularly bad experiences lately. With the exception of the weekend, this last week was one of the worst I have had in recent memory. But I only write about the good stuff here, so let's move on.

There was a storm last night and the Spanish Peaks are covered in snow. I have good feelings about this winter. I have heard that I think it is going to be brutal, and I canNOT wait. There has been an unprecedented number of days with no sunspots, which has only happened two other times in recorded history.

Each time it has happened, a very cold, very snowy winter followed.

Buckle up. We're gonna have some powder days.

Sketchbook?

If I had any sort of artistic ability, I'd say yes.
