Coming down the mountain

A litte more from Thanksgiving:

In the Salt Lake City airport, while waiting to change planes, Katie chatted up a stranger.

"We're going to Bozeman to see my Uncle Joey."

"Oh?"

"He has a hottub."

"That's nice, it's good time of year for that."

"And he has his own website."

*Silence*

Annnnnd, scene.

On Saturday, we went to the Grizzly & Wolf Discovery Center in West Yellowstone. That place is so cool.

First we saw Sam & Illie, two of the resident bears. Sam weighs 1100 pounds.

Here's Illie:

This is Sam:

(Last two photos from the Grizzly & Wolf Discovery Center Website...)

The wolves howled for us, which was an incredible experience.

There is a building you can go in to check out the wolves.

Katie walked up to the window and the whole pack came over to check her out & started goofing around right in front of her & Joey, about a foot away.

You can see Katie's reflection in the glass.

To dad:

I love you and I really hope you are feeling better.

Omar passed his citizenship test today!

I still think the NSA is going to have to keep an eye on him, though, because he missed one question on the exam.

"What was the United States most worried about durng the Cold War?"

Omar said, "Nuclear proliferation?"

WRONG!!!!!!!

Communism.

Congrats, my friend. We are proud to have you.

Welcome, Omar.

While traveling one summer with my parents, we stopped by a wolf preserve. One of the wolves had just lost her mate. She tried calling him... howl after ringing howl.

It's a good thing we native born Americans don't have to take a citizenship test. They'd probably have to deport most of our sorry asses.

Did you catch the NatGeo channel show last night about the hybrid grizzly/polar bear someone (unfortunately) shot on a guided hunting trip a couple years ago? Interesting.

Katie's comments cracked me up.
