Trying to stop the waves behind your eyeballs

I spent all of today doing something really crappy.

It was the kind of thing I thought I put behind me a long time ago.

Alas, there are times when you just have to scrape it right off your shoes.

Nevertheless, I have some things that help me retain my sanity.

Escapist kinds of things, like weird books, movies, music and art. Our friend Stacie is an artist.

This is her website. Check it out.

She teaches art at the high school, makes jewelry and all kinds of cool stuff. For the past year and a half, she and I have been doing this art project. We have a sketchbook that we each take custody of for a while, and trade it back and forth.

There are no rules. Watercolor, pencil sketch, sharpie, collage, poetry and other media. It's ok if we write, draw, paint over, add to, supplement each others' work.

It is a pretty cool project. We have one of the sketchbooks on display at my house. The other one is beneath this very bed.

I'll try to put up something for you to let you know that my whole life, is like a picture on a sunny day.

No, lately it's been more light bulbs and GI Joe dolls.

Oh, and that reminds me... Someone who is near and dear to Stanette had a job in health care.

This person related the following story from an emergency room doctor:

A guy came in with a carrot lodged in his rectum. Way up there.

The doctor said, "We're going to have to do surgery to get the carrot out."

The guy protested and asked if there was any way they could just go in and get the carrot out without surgery.

The doctor said, "That would take one huuungry rabbit."

True story.
