You can go sleep at home tonight if you can get up and walk away

I spent my weekend snowboarding. It helped clear my mind.

I have a knee injury that, oddly, hurts all the time except when I am actually snowboarding. It hurts in bed, it hurts when I walk, it hurts when I walk up and down the stairs, it hurts getting into and out of the car, it hurts when I am just standing and playing guitar...

But for some reason (adrenaline?), when I am strapped in and riding through bumps, trees and powder, I don't feel it. The minute I stop and get on the lift, it hurts again. Strange.

I watched the Super Bowl with my dear, darling wife. She cooked up a fabulous meal. I enjoyed the halftime show.

I also spent a lot of time this weekend talking to a few of my friends on the phone, Tom, Tony and Dan. I am blessed with an incredible wife, a really tight family and some, very, very, very good friends.

Thank you to my friends and family who read this, because I know you do. You mean the world to me.

The Who was great at halftime, by the way. I was so excited for their performance that I listened to them all day on my iPod when I was snowboarding and called Tom Doepke about ten times to talk about it.

I would give my right ear, right pinky finger and/or up to two toes to just stand on that stage with a Les Paul and hit a G chord at full volume. Zak Starkey (Ringo's son) and Pino Palladino did an incredible job filling in for the dearly departed Moon and Entwhistle.

The lasers, the fireworks, in the round... shoot, if they promised to sync the fireworks to a big windmill chord, I may even give an entire foot.

Sorry for the maudlin post. I'm half-Irish, and I had a pretty crappy week.

I hope your knee is better soon.
It's beautiful how you speak so highly of the people in your life, and how you appreciate them all so much.

Wow, I am clueless these days...didn't realize that was Zak!

All of those people you mention in your posts? They're the lucky ones.

The good times wouldn't seem nearly as sweet without the bad to balance them out. You are fortunate to have such a great group of friends and family.

And the superbowl? I tried to watch, but found myself much more interested in the food, drinks, and conversation...

Sorry about your knee. Hope it gets better. Acupuncture? Didn't that work for your ankle back in the day?

Ben obliterated his ACL skiing in January. Surgery next week to replace it. He's been on crutches for over a month. He's getting really tired of that.

Hope all is well with you.

J.K.P.
